Happy New Year, Blogosphere:
What a fall semester looking back! When you sift through the previous blog posts from SCO’s student bloggers you can see we’ve accomplished quite a bit over the past few months. One of the most memorable moments for me was the opening of the new academic building and laboratory facility on campus. SCO is already known for its world class clininc, The Eye Center, but the new classroom and labs are really state-of-the-art. When I toured SCO during my interview I was impressed by the school, but now with these new facilities, I don’t know how any potential new student could ever turn Southern College of Optometry away! Not only is it beautiful, but the new building is full of amentities every hard-working graduate student craves—>think private study rooms, couches with portable desk tops, HDMI enabled digital TVs and SMARTboards, rechargeable smartphone/tablet/laptop stations throughout the building, internet and printer services interconnected to the Cloud, comfortable study/lecture chairs…I could really go on and on! This campus upgrade really speaks to the heart of SCO’s high standards, and I know future students will enjoy its luxuries for many more years to come.
2013 has really been the year that was for the Class of 2015. We faced personal and academic challenges, but we proved we could stay the course and trek our way through those obstacles. My hope for 2014 is that we can all continue to grow in our faith, love for each other, smile more often, and enjoy the little things in life we all take for granted all too often. The background of my computer says to “Make Today Ridiculously Amazing.” So like any Gen Y-er, I encourage you to make not only today, but all of 2014 ridiculously amazing, what do you have to lose? I mean, I’ll be taking Parts I, II, and III of National Boards in 2014, so why not look at the bright side and keep things in perspective–2015 is now just a year away as is the title (finger’s crossed), Dr. Puerto!!
Of course, no blog post would be complete without a few photos (Missed ya at Thanksgiving, big brother David!):
Cheers to 2014; may this be your year. Now go make it ridiculously amazing!
Carpe Diem,
Amy
