Wow, what a difference a year makes! This time last year, I was a few days from taking the OAT and sending in my optometry school applications. It was a very busy (and at times, stressful) season for me but I must say that it was all worth it. Fast-forward a year later, I'm packing up and preparing to make my way to Memphis in a couple of weeks! It's amazing to look back and see how far you've come and how much closer you are to achieving a goal that you've worked hard and made sacrifices for. For all of those who are applying to optometry schools this cycle, put everything you have into the process. Take advantage of all the resources that the school offers to help you become the best applicant you can be. I know that SCO has many resources available to prepare applicants and the Admissions/Student Services department is always ready to help you in any way possible. From your application, to the OAT, to the interview and everything in between, give it your all. Trust me, you won't regret it!
Lately, I've been wrapping up some things at home, making sure that I get to spend time with my family and friends. Although this summer hasn't been nearly as busy as last summer, I'm doing my best to really take the time to relax and enjoy my free time before I start school (because I know things are going to get REALLY busy..really soon!). However, I am very excited about making Memphis my new home and finally starting my first year at SCO.
Orientation is just around the corner and I can already tell that those few days are going to be jam packed with lots of new information and will definitely help my classmates and I start our journey on the right foot. What I'm probably most excited about is finally being able to meet and get to know the amazing people that I will be embarking on this journey with!
I will definitely be giving a post-Orientation update and let you all know how it feels to (officially) be part of the SCO family!
Until next time,
Feyisayo
