Homeward bound!

I'm heading home this afternoon! I'm fortunate that my clinic schedule allows me to head home today. My clinic days on Monday and Tuesday were rather interesting this week. On Monday, I was assigned to the Technology department. This is a great rotation that allows you to perform advanced testing, like visual fields, fundus photos, OCT, pachymetry, and more. Thanksgiving Break Plans

We’re all getting excited about our “Thanksgiving break countdowns” around here! After surviving another anatomy exam this morning, there’s only one exam and one lab practical left to go until a week without class. SCO attracts students from all over the country, and while many are able to fly out next week to be with their families, some students are staying put in Memphis. Lions Club

One of the activities I enjoy being involved in is Lion’s Club. I first became interested in Lion’s Club after participating in Student Volunteers for Optometric Service for Humanity (SVOSH) my first year at SCO. I visited a few Lion’s clubs in Iowa and Mississippi and they were kind enough to give donations to fund my SVOSH trip to Mexico. Continuing the Countdown

This past week has been ok, with two tests and lots of studying (the usual!). I'm trying to keep a stress-free attitude and continue to look forward to Thanksgiving Break. I have plenty to show my family over the holiday. I've learned so much in the 3 months I've been here. You truly hit the ground running your first semester. I'm happy to be learning so much so early. A relaxing week

This week has been great! The only exam 3rd years had this week was Monday morning in practice management. In this class, we learn about important financial and business aspects in optometry. The exam was on corporations, partnerships, and life/disability insurance. Having no background in business, this class has been really beneficial so far.
