The basic core values that I learned at SCO allowed me to build a strong and steady foundation that will continue to shape my career and capabilities in the future. - Class of 2014 graduate
When evaluating student achievement, Southern College of Optometry (SCO) examines outcomes relevant to its mission, "to lead the profession by educating the best possible healthcare providers, promoting lifelong learning, and fostering a personal commitment to service." Southern College of Optometry is pleased to share its goals for student/graduate achievement and the progress monitored over the years. This transparency will allow potential students to see the success that SCO graduates have experienced when making decisions about where to pursue their optometric education. We also share these results with our other stakeholders, such as current students, alumni, employers of our graduates, faculty and staff, board members, community partners, and members of the general public.
The primary ways that SCO monitors student/graduate achievement is through retention and graduation rates, National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) passage rates, and career placement/residency rates. The links below provide the most recent data.
