Essilor of America has made a $250,000 gift to Southern College of Optometry (SCO) in support of the college’s “Envision Our Progress” campaign.
With a $4 million goal, SCO’s five-year campaign was designed to support construction of the college’s new academic classroom facility currently under construction at the college’s midtown Memphis campus. The fundraising goal also includes support of the college’s student scholarship program and patient care initiatives to enhance the reach and quality of vision care in the Memphis community.
“Everyone at SCO appreciates the generosity and enthusiasm that Essilor of America has shown for optometric education with this gift,” said Dr. Richard W. Phillips, president of Southern College of Optometry. “We’re grateful to our industry partners such as Essilor for recognizing the positive impact that SCO makes in the education of our students and in the lives of more than 80,000 patients each year through our clinical presence in the Memphis community.”
Presenting Dr. Phillips with the $250,000 check was Danne Ventura, F.A.A.O., Essilor’s Director of Professional Relations and Howard Purcell, O.D., F.A.A.O., Senior Vice President. “SCO and Essilor have enjoyed a productive relationship for many years, and Essilor is pleased to support SCO’s programs and initiatives at this exciting time in the college’s history,” said Ms. Ventura.
