As a part of your orientation here at SCO, you are required to complete four short modules on Active Shooter training, Title IX, Intimate Partner Violence and the Campus SaVE Act. You may recall similar courses or training that you received from your undergraduate institution. As an institution that provides federal financial aid to its student body, we are governed by these requirements but we also want to ensure that you have all the tools that you need to feel safe on our campus.
In order to access these modules, please use the following instructions.
-
Use this link to access the home page of the training: https://scostudents-tn.safecolleges.com/login
If you are unable to use the link, simply copy and paste into your browser.
-
Your user name will be the same as your user name when you log on to your SCO email account: e.g., jsmith. You will not need to add the domain name. Your password is the same as your email password as well.
-
The three courses have been assigned to you. You should be able to complete all three courses in a little more than 1 ½ hours.
-
You must complete the assessment at the end of the course in order to receive credit for having completed it.
This training should be accessed using a laptop or desktop computer. It is not formatted to work on smartphones, unfortunately. You should complete your courses PRIOR TO THE DEADLINE OF MID SEPTEMBER otherwise you will receive periodic reminders that the training has not been completed. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU COMPLETE THIS TRAINING NOW BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOUR CLASSWORK BECAUSE YOU MAY FIND IT DIFFICULT TO DO SO ONCE CLASS DEMANDS HAVE BEGUN. If you are unable to find your assignment, please email me so that I can troubleshoot the issue.
I know that some people will find this training uncomfortable and I do understand that. If you are unable to complete the training because it triggers a painful memory for you, please reach out to me so that we can discuss possible alternatives.
Please know that as the College’s Title IX coordinator, I am available to discuss the policies related to non-discrimination and sexual harassment at any time. I can be reached at the phone number below, in Room 807, or via email 24 hours a day. We want to ensure that you are safe here and that you have the information that you need about the college’s responsibilities and your rights under these policies. You may also access the policy and complaint procedure on the Title IX page of the SCO website.
We look forward to having an opportunity to meet each of you during your stay here.
