He is also Director of Clinical Research with the management of clinical research activities at the college for both students and faculty. After receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Christensen was appointed to the Biology faculty at Phillips University in Enid Oklahoma. He taught biology courses and served as Director of the University’s Colorado Field Camp. In 1985, Dr. Christensen enrolled in the optometry program at Northeastern State University. After a year in private practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dr. Christensen was recruited by Alcon Laboratories as the Research Optometrist. His research activities involved both contact lens care products and dry eye. He retired from Alcon as Associate Director in 2012. Dr. Christensen was recruited by Southern College of Optometry to assume the position of Director of Research and associate professor.Dr. Christensen holds optometry licenses in Texas and Tennessee. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of the American Optometric Association, AOA Contact Lens Section Member, ARVO, and TFOS (Tear film and Ocular Surface Society). He has been author or co-author on numerous scientific publications including original scientific papers and poster presentations.
