Following her residency, Dr. Anderson served for three years as a Captain in the United States Air Force and was an associate in private practice in Maryland. She also served as Chief of Optometry Service at the U.S. Soldiers' and Airmen's Home in Washington D.C. Dr. Anderson joined the faculty at SCO in 2000. In addition to supervising the primary care residency program at SCO, she was very active in the didactic program and clinical teaching programs. Dr. Anderson served as Chief of Low Vision and Rehabilitation Services in The Eye Center and as the Director of Continuing Education before being named Southern College of Optometry’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement in 2008. As Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Dr. Anderson's responsibilities include alumni relations, development, placement service, continuing education, community outreach, marketing, and communication programs.
Professionally, Dr. Anderson has had many active roles in the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO), SCO research, and has regularly served as the Chief Examiner for the emerging injections assessment for the National Board of Examinations in Optometry (NBEO).
