A number of SCO students, faculty, staff, residents and family members participated in the St. Jude Marathon weekend's races held Saturday, December 4.
Josh McAdams, '12, won the men's half-marathon with a time of 1:08:01. McAdams, a national track and field champion and 2008 Olympic athlete, also won the event in 2008. A photographer snapped this photo of him as his passed Mile Marker 7.
Lance Jones, husband of Heather Jones, '13,was the top Shelby County male finisher in the marathon with a time of 2:38:24 and was the second overall male finisher for the 25-29 age group.
From the faculty and staff, runners included Drs. Cheryl Ervin, Rick Savoy, and David West, among others. Dr. Ervin, Residency Director, pictured with her daughter, Chelsea, was among those expressing her appreciation for donations that were made in honor of the late Emma Ivie, who was a St. Jude patient and the daughter of former resident Jared Ivie, OD '09. Residents who competed included Drs. Lauren Goldsmith, Amy Garbo and Chris Mallard.
