My time at home has already gone by so fast. Breaks never fail to fly by...but I'm very thankful to have the rest of the week off still. I've already had one family Thanksgiving meal on Sunday, and another to come on Thursday. I love all the home cooking!
I also took the opportunity while at home to visit a local optometrist I shadowed in high school. This optometrist started his own practice from scratch. Over the past 10 years, he has built up a very successful, busy practice.
During my conversation with this doctor, his words of wisdom for optometry students and recent grads is to not let money influence your decisions. All students graduate with a considerable amount of debt, but do not sell yourself short and settle for a job that pays well but does not leave you content. You need to look down the road to the future and ask yourself what type of practice you envision working in.
Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
