Fall (my favorite time of year) is here! The past week the weather in Memphis has been absolutely perfect. 70 degrees and not a cloud in the sky is exactly the case this morning too. For the third years we just kicked off a difficult few weeks of the semester’s first exams! The beautiful weather and all the studying I need to do don’t mix well but at least when I do get to take a break outside the crisp air takes my mind off of stress and reminds me the Holidays are getting closer!
This week was homecoming week at SCO. Thursday the new first years were honored at Convocation, receiving their coveted white coats. The clinic and school close early on convocation day to enable us to attend and recognize our colleagues. Over 100 scholarship recipients from all 4 current classes were recognized and various Clinical and Academic awards from the previous year were given out, as well as outstanding faculty and alumni awards. SCO does a great job of recognizing those who go above and beyond in our profession.
Friday night was the annual homecoming outdoor barbecue held on the grounds of SCO. This weekend marks the annual Continuing Education classes sponsored by SCO along with Class Reunions so there are lots of alumni and families in town to join the entire SCO community at this huge party. You can always expect all-you-can-eat Memphis BBQ with all the trimmings! There’s a DJ, rock climbing wall, Gladiator-style jousting and lots more fun games that everyone can enjoy! It’s always a great start to October!
I’ve got too many tests to even mention coming up so I need to get back to the books. I’m sure you can expect photos from Homecoming to be posted soon in the online Photo Gallery!
