Hey everyone! Well it has been a great Holiday break for me. I’ve spent lots of time with family including a trip to my boyfriend’s parents in Union City, TN (my hometown) and then to my Mom’s new home in Sevierville, TN (in the beautiful Smokey Mountains). We had a white Christmas for the first time since I was a little kid and it really made me feel like a kid again! Tonight is New Year’s Eve and I have to say that I am sad to see 2010 end, it was a great year.
Only one more semester of class left for me at SCO and then it will be fourth year and externs! Although it’s still dim, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! A few weeks ago finals went surprisingly well (Posterior Segment (Retina), Neuro Optometry, Ocular Pharmacology just to name a few). Most of the third years, including me, also stuck around school an extra 4 days after finals for an intense Part I Board Review class by KMK. It was awesome and I am SO glad I took part in the class. The course instructors are also the brains/inventors of the course and authors of the review books. One teacher is an optometrist and the other a physician’s assistant and WOW is all I can say! They did such a great job making me feel like Boards is definitely something I not only will pass but with some effort will CONQUER! It was a great jump-start to begin studying for Part one of Boards which I will take in March (at SCO). SCO faculty will also have review sessions for us starting right after break and lasting until the exam. Every weekday morning, bright and early. we will review several topics we have learned that we will be tested over on Part I. It is a lot of material and we have to get on the ball refreshing our memories! Check out their website if you want to know more about KMK and check out the NBEO website for more info about our Board exams!
School starts back on January 3rd and I am right back to work in Primary Care Clinic Monday morning. Each semester you are assigned new staff Doctors to answer to so I am excited to learn from them. I’m back in Memphis now and I am looking forward to spending the last few days of my break being as lazy as possible (besides a ton of laundry and cleaning I have been putting off). The high today is 72 so we might even head out to the dog park! Until next time, Happy New Year!
