Well my time here as a third year is quickly coming to an end. I have really enjoyed this year. I have really seen myself grow as a student and more importantly as a clinician. My skills that I have developed over in the Eye Center have helped strengthen me as a whole as I prepare to enter externships. My first rotation as a 4th year will be here at SCO during the summer. Then in Aug '11 I will depart to Arizona for my rotation at a surgical center. Next I will head to Utah in Jan'12 to finish up my 4th year at a private practice. I am really excited at the externships that I chose but there were many great places to choose.
This past week has been fun. One of the clubs here on campus put on an Easteregg Hunt at the school in the courtyard. It was great fun. I have a 4 year old girl and a 21 month old boy. It was sure fun to see them hunt through the grass and bushes looking for eggs. We came home with so much candy that my wife and I had to eat some so the kids didn't get too much!!!
Also this week we had a party called senior sendoff. It was for all the current 3rd years getting ready to head out for externs. It was held at this antique store with an outside patio in midtown. It was very classy and a unique atmosphere. This place is known for putting on great wedding parties and other venues. We had a great dinner with dessert and a dance to follow. It was great because some students in the class put on a slide show of all the students. It was a great reminder of the lasting friendships we all have made here. We come from all over the country and including Canada (like me) and we were brought together in a great learning environment at SCO. I sure am going to miss seeing everyone on campus, but I am excited to get out and start having other great experiences at my externship sites.
Well I still haven't heard back about my National Board scores part 1.... They said that the scores should be released before May 4th....But I'll let you know as soon as I hear about it...
Cheers
