Many dads like to tell their daughters that they're a princess, but Reggie Dampier, OD '97, is the father of a real Disney princess. Dampier and his wife, Jeanna, a molecular biologist, are the proud parents of 10-year-old Elizabeth Dampier, the voice of young Tiana in Walt Disney Pictures' new animated film, The Princess and the Frog.
Elizabeth, who has appeared in TV commercials in Mississippi, was cast in the part after a lengthy series of auditions. In the film, Tiana is a young New Orleans girl who dreams of running her own restaurant someday. Later in the movie, she grows up to kiss a frog prince and becomes a frog herself in the process. Oprah Winfrey and Terrence Howard voice the parents of Elizabeth's character.
Dr. Dampier, his wife and daughter were interviewed for this TV newscast. The Dampiers attended the November 15th Hollywood premiere of Disney's new film, which opens nationwide in movie theaters on December 11.
Congratulations to Dr. and Mrs. Dampier on their daughter's success!
