SCO’s Communications Department is committed to serving the needs of the on campus community as well as sharing positive news about college accomplishments with the community.

The department oversees content and graphic support for SCO publications as well as online via our website, Facebook, Twitter and other social media.

What does the Communications Department do?

The Communications Department assists with internal and external efforts to market and brand the institution, including assisting with the creation of advertising, recruiting, marketing, and public relations content. The department helps manage the college’s website and social media content as well as volume copying and printshop requests.

How do I obtain my photo?

SCO contracts with a yearbook photographer to take free portraits each spring. A copy of your photo can be supplied to you upon request. The Communications Department also assists the Hayes Center for Practice Excellence in taking annual high quality business-type portraits suitable for LinkedIn and other networking or career-related purposes. These photos are provided to students at no charge and may be used by students in their professional pursuits, including after graduation.

How do I obtain a yearbook?

Yearbooks are produced via SGA student fees. Students must register to receive a book.

How can I use SCO’s logo or images?

SCO’s logo and creative content are owned by the college. Permission to use the college logo or other intellectual property may be obtained by seeking permission to make sure the usage is consistent with the college’s branding standards. Does the school have a social media policy?

Yes, SCO has a social media policy for both students and employees. In short, SCO’s students and employees must use good judgment to represent the professional standards of optometry and our institution as a leading post-graduate college with national and regional recognition.

Can the department help with student projects?

Yes, members of the department can provide assistance to students as need with photo, art, copying, or social media projects at no charge if the projects are SCO-related.

How do I request help with promoting a student activity in a newsletter, digital signage, or social media post?

Please email your request to [email protected] if you would like to promote a student event or activity, either by posting information to the digital signs around campus, publication in the college’s bi-weekly digital newsletter, or via social media.
