New classes enter in August each year, and applications are accepted beginning June 30, one year prior to enrollment. Applications are reviewed in the order received; therefore, it is recommended that you file your application as early as possible, but not later than March 1 of the year you wish to enter. You need not complete all prerequisite courses prior to your application as long as you will complete them prior to entrance.
The SCO supplemental application is submitted in addition to the application to OptomCAS, which can be accessed here. OptomCAS will issue you a 10-digit OptomCAS ID number, which is required for the SCO supplemental application.
NOTE: you do not have to complete your OptomCAS application prior to submitting your supplemental application. You simply must have an OptomCAS ID number in order to submit the supplemental app.
NOTE FOR REAPPLICANTS: Please email [email protected] to request access to the new supplemental application. An admission staff member will respond once your access has been granted.
The SCO supplemental application and your OAT scores must both be on file before we can consider you for an interview. Likewise, your file must have been verified by OptomCAS before you can be sent an interview invitation. The OAT administration will automatically send official scores to OptomCAS if you indicated SCO was to receive them when you registered for the test.
All letters of reference and official college transcripts from each college attended must be submitted directly to OptomCAS-- not to our Admissions Office. Of the two letters required for admission to SCO, at least one must be from a non-relative O.D. with whom you have worked or shadowed and one must be from a pre-health advisor/committee or science professor (biology, physics or chemistry).
A $50 non-refundable application fee must accompany the supplemental application and must be submitted by credit card at the completion of this application.
