'59 Graduate Honored

In Memory of Brent Hachfeld, OD '02

SCO is saddened to report the untimely passing of Brent Hachfeld, OD ’02, who died last Sunday in New Orleans. He was 37. A native of Minnesota, Dr. Hachfeld moved to the greater New Orleans area following his graduation to begin practice. He was a devoted husband and father, and is survived by his wife, Jennifer Wandell, OD ’02, and a young daughter. Steele Receives Feinbloom Award

Southern College of Optometry Professor Glen Steele, OD '69, was named the recipient of the 2011 William Feinbloom Award at October's meeting of the American Academy of Optometry in Boston. The Feinbloom Award is given to an individual who has made a distinguished and significant contribution to the advancement of clinical practice, and thus, to the visual enhancement of the public. In Memory of Allan Whiteman, OD '06

The SCO community is saddened to note the passing of a young alumnus. Allan Whiteman, OD '06, died on Saturday, October 8, 2011 after battling a brain tumor for several years. Survivors include his wife, Khanh Whiteman, and their young daughter, Khaia. Funeral services were scheduled at Wellsburgh Christian Church in Wellsburgh, West Virginia on Saturday, October 15, 2011, with visitation from 1-3 pm and services following at 3 pm.
