Alumni Celebrate 60 Years of Patient Care

Jeff Foster, OD '81, Kurt Steele, OD '95, and Joy Stone, OD '10, recently celebrated the 60th anniversary of providing eye and vision care to patients in the Newport, Tennessee community. On October 17th, 1950, another SCO graduate, Nathan Ford, OD '50, started the practice shortly after his graduation. William B. Henry, OD '61, joined the practice in 1961. Both Drs. Frank Gibson, OD '68, Retires from SCO

Joined by an admiring crowd of colleagues, former students, fellow alumni and well-wishers, SCO Professor Frank Gibson, OD ’68, retired after 19 years of service to Southern College of Optometry (SCO). Dr. Gibson’s retirement reception was held on Wednesday, October 6. In his remarks, SCO President Richard W. David Shannon, OD '86, chairman of the Association of Optometrists (AOP) in the UK, and Ron Bannister, OD '77, SECO International President, recently signed a renewed joint working agreement between their respective organizations. Maples, Mormon Honored

SCO alumni W.C. Maples, OD '68, and Paul Mormon, OD '01, were recognized at SCO's 25th annual Convocation ceremony, held during Homecoming and Fall Continuing Education Weekend. Homecoming Weekend Kickoff

SCO is off to a good start for Homecoming weekend with an alumni kick-off party on Thursday, September 30 at the Peabody Memphis. Alumni from all years joined SCO President Richard W.
