In Memory of Charles Smart, OD '61

One of SCO's most faithful and significant supporters, Charles Smart,  OD '61, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2009. Visitation for Dr. Smart will be held at Taylor Funeral Home, 214 N. Main Street, in Dickson, Tennessee from 2-4 pm and from 6-8 pm on both Saturday and Sunday, November 21-22.  Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 am at St. Christopher Catholic Church, located at 713 W. SCO Hosts SECO Day

SCO held SECO Day on Thursday, November 19. SECO President-elect Ron Bannister, OD ’77, was joined by SECO Executive Director Elizabeth Taylor-Creed during a visit to campus. SECO presented a $500 check to SGA in support of student programs.  SECO International’s 2010 event, to be held February 10-14, 2009 in Atlanta, offers a wonderful opportunity to get students connected with SCO alumni. 1997 Graduate's Daughter Voices Character in Disney's New Animated Movie

Many dads like to tell their daughters that they're a princess, but Reggie Dampier, OD '97, is the father of a real Disney princess. Dampier and his wife, Jeanna, a molecular biologist, are the proud parents of 10-year-old Elizabeth Dampier, the voice of young Tiana in Walt Disney Pictures' new animated film, The Princess and the Frog .  Elizabeth, who has appeared in TV commercials in Mississippi, was cast in the part after a lengthy series of auditions. 1947 Graduate Recalls WWII Service

James M. Moye, OD '47, recently recalled his World War II service for an article in his hometown newspaper in Laurel, Mississippi. Brown Named Ohio's Young OD of the Year

Rebecca Williamson Brown, OD '03, was recently named the 2009 Ohio Young Optometrist of the Year. She practices at Howland Eye Center in Warren and Modern Optical in Austintown.  Dr. Brown was also elected to serve a two-year term on the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Optometric Association. In addition to her regular patient load, she provides charitable eye care for babies up to 12 months of age (InfantSEE) and the working poor (Vision USA). She also volunteers in area classrooms by...
