Daniel R. Eckermann, OD,
FAAO - Residency Program Supervisor
Dr. Daniel Eckermann is the Chief
of Optometry Section and the Residency Program Supervisor. He received his Doctor
of Optometry degree from Ohio State University in 1984, and completed a VA
residency in Chillicothe & Columbus, Ohio in 1985. He came to the Salem VA
Medical Center immediately after his residency. He helped establish an
affiliation with Southern College of Optometry with the creation of a student
externship rotation as well as the residency program.
W. Scott Slagle, OD, FAAO
Dr. Scott Slagle is a 1999
summa cum laude graduate of Southern College of Optometry. He completed a
residency in Primary Care Optometry at the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical
Center in 2000. His academic appointments include serving as an instructor at
Southern College of Optometry and as an Adjunct Faculty member for the
Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He is an author of numerous papers and
posters. Dr. Slagle is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He brings
a blend of academic, institutional, and private practice experience to the Salem
VA.
