SCO Primary Eye Care Residency Supervisors

Sylvia Elizabeth Sparrow, OD

Dr. Sparrow received her Bachelor’s Degree from Memphis State University in 1990, her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in 1998 and completed a residency in hospital-based primary eye care at the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Currently, she is an assistant professor at Southern College of Optometry and the primary care residency supervisor, as well as the staff optometrist at the Church Health Center. She is actively involved in clinical education at both locations, and has been chosen for numerous teaching awards over the years. Dr. Sparrow also serves as a preceptor for the externship department at SCO. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she serves as the faculty advisor for Student Volunteers in Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH) and Gamma Omicron, and is an active member of the SCO Lions Club.
