Eye Centers of Florida Residency Supervisor

Michael D. Wesson, OD, MS, FAAO

Dr. Wesson was born in New York City, New York but spent his early years in Hollywood, Florida. He obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida and his Doctorate in Optometry from Southern College of Optometry, Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Wesson served as Assistant Director of the Optometric Center of New York and then as the Director of The Optometric Technician Program at Miami Dade Junior College, Miami, Florida. For several years Dr. Wesson was in private Practice in Lake Placid, Florida before joining the faculty at the University of Alabama @ Birmingham School of Optometry where he obtained his Masters degree in Physiological Optics. Dr. Wesson spent eighteen years at UAB and left as a tenured Associate Professor to once again pursue private practice. Dr. Wesson is currently practicing as an Optometric Physician with Eye Centers of Florida whose main clinical site is in Ft. Myers, Florida under the direction of David C. Brown, MD, one of the foremost ophthalmic surgeons in the United States.

Dr. Wesson is married to Kathleen Pella and has five children and six grandchildren. His hobbies include boating, fishing and computer science.
