Eye Centers of
Florida
Residency Program / Facility Description
Eye
Centers of Florida (ECOF) welcomes you to the Residency Program in Ocular
Disease. You will have the opportunity to work with some of the best ophthalmic
surgeons and optometric physicians in the southeastern United States. This
interaction will provide you with a strong background for successful practice
opportunities in your future endeavors.
ECOF is a
private practice with its main center in Ft. Myers, Florida, on the southwest
coast. The practice facilities consist of a 34,000 square foot two-story main
building with a large 6500 square foot outpatient surgery center. From June 2004
through May 2005 ECOF had a total of 102,942 patient visits making it one of the
largest practices in the United States. You can view our web site by accessing
www.eyecentersofflorida.com.
You will
have the opportunity to work with our surgeons from cornea, plastics, retina,
neurology and pediatrics utilizing our modern diagnostic equipment and
well-equipped operatories. For those interested in research we conduct funded
clinical research in a variety of areas including accommodative lens implants,
foldable lens implants, contact lens implants etc. At this time there are eight
studies underway with another four studies ready to start.
In
addition to the main clinical facilities, there are thirteen satellite practices
stretching over a 300 square mile area from Venice in the north to Naples in the
south as well as an aesthetic center located close to the main clinic. An
optometric physician manages each satellite location and works closely with ECOF
management to provide consistently high quality optometric care.
The
diversified practice experience will provide you with the opportunity to work
with several populations and their unique characteristics. As a resident, you
will have the opportunity to work in several of the satellite practices to
provide primary care and to interact with our surgeons on a referral basis.
You can
tour our main facility through a series of pictures
provided on this web site. The entire document
describing our residency program is available at this site.
