W.
Jeff McGill, O.D.
Dr. McGill graduated from
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his Doctor of
Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. After varied private
practice experiences in rural and urban areas of North Carolina, Dr. McGill
served as a commissioned officer with the Indian Health Service, being promoted
to Lieutenant Commander, before joining Dorn VAMC. Experiences involved full
scope primary eye care to the Navajo population, serving as adjunct faculty for
optometry students, and lectures to fellow OD’s as well as hospital physicians.
Dr. McGill currently
serves as residency supervisor and Chief of Optometry for Dorn VAMC. He has
been extensively involved with publishing several electronic posters for
SECO International since 2004. Further experience includes lectures to the
Columbia area (Midlands) Optometric Society and SC Optometric Summer
Conference on various eye care topics, as well as education concerning the
same to primary care physicians. Dr. McGill has traveled to Haiti for eye
care mission trips.
He lives in Columbia
with his wife, Laurie and children Patrick, Rachel and Noah. |

William
J. Denton, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Denton graduated from
the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University in 2000. His
externships during optometry school consisted of Elgin Air Force Base, Ft. Wayne
VA Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute – Lions Low Vision Clinic.
Dr. Denton performed his residency at the Dorn VA Hospital in Columbia, SC. After his
residency, he worked in various types of practices and returned to the Dorn VA
due to a doctor vacancy. He eventually came on as a full-time doctor in 2003.
Dr. Denton enjoys fitting specialty contact lenses and working with people who
are visually impaired.
Dr. Denton was married in 2001 and
lives in Sumter, SC. He is very involved with his church where he serves as
youth Sunday school teacher and deacon. |

Richard
G. Gardner, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Gardner graduated from
Oregon State University in 1993. He worked with the Peace Corps rural
development program from 1994 to 1996 in Africa. Upon returning, he enrolled at
the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, graduating in 2002. After completing a
residency in primary care he is now on staff at the Dorn VA Medical Center.
Dr. Gardner completed
his academy fellowship in 2004 and has adjunct faculty appointments with the
Southern College of Optometry and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He
is also one of two supervisors of the optometry externship program. |
