Program in Ocular Disease. We are proud to provide a challenging and exciting

skills and knowledge. SEAPLLC continues its commitment to education and

SEA is a comprehensive medical and surgical eye care practice serving the
greater Memphis and Tri-State areas with patients located in Tennessee,
Mississippi, and Arkansas. Established in 1990 by Dr. Cathy Schanzer, Southern
Eye Associates strives to provide the highest levels of surgical and medical
care utilizing state-of-the-art technology. We provide the network optometrists
medical and surgical consultations, phone consults, emergency coverage,
continuing education lectures, clinical care workshops and training in surgical
co-management. We encourage a family-oriented environment and promote community

In addition to our clinical facility we have three ASC’s. They have been
specifically designed to give personal and professional care for outpatient
ophthalmic surgeries. We utilize these surgical facilities to benefit our
patients by reducing medical costs, providing timely visits, and more personal
one-on-one care.
Karmen Holdinghausen, O.D., is our Consultative Optometry Residency Director. Dr. Holdinghausen received her Bachelor of Science degree from Truman State University and graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry. Her residency in ocular disease at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, included training in the ophthalmologic specialties of retinal, glaucoma, cornea, and neuro-ophthalmology.
