Loren W. Bennett, O.D., M.P.H., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Larry Bennett is the Chief of Optometry and the Residency Program Director at the James H. Quillen VAMC. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1985, from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1988 and later completed a Master of Public Health from East Tennessee State University in 2000. After completing a residency with the Chillicothe VA Medical Center and Columbus VA Outpatient Clinic in 1988-1989, he taught for a year as a clinic instructor at Ohio State before accepting a job at the James H. Quillen VAMC in 1990, where he became Chief of Optometry in 1994. Dr. Bennett has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry since 1994
Nanette Coelho, O.D.
Dr. Nanette Coelho received her Bachelor of Science from Florida International University in 1985, and graduated from NOVA Southeastern College of Optometry in 1997. She completed her residency at Bascom-Palmer Eye Institute in 1998, and joined the James H. Quillen VAMC staff as a part time optometrist in 2001. Dr. Coelho became a full time staff member at this facility in 2004.
Matthew Anderson, O.D.
Dr. Matt Anderson graduated from Ferris State University in 2002, and the Michigan College of Optometry in 2006. He completed his residency training at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center in 2006-2007, and joined the staff of the Lake City, Florida VA Medical Center in 2007, serving as the student extern coordinator from 2007-2010, and acting Chief of Optometry in 2008-2009. Dr. Anderson transferred to the James H. Quillen VAMC in March 2010.
John Gingrich, O.D.
Dr. John Gingrich graduated from Northeast Missouri State University in 1986, and from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1990. He worked in a private ophthalmology co-management practice in Billings, Montana until 2001, when he became the Clinical Director for TLC-The Laser Center in Billings. He later transferred to the TLC office in Johnson City, TN where he served as Regional Clinical Director until 2006. He joined the full time staff at the James H. Quillen VAMC in 2006. Dr. Gingrich coordinates the student extern program, managing academic affiliations with SCO, ICO, PCO, UAB, and SUNY.
Harold R. Bohlman, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Hal Bohlman received his Bachelor of Science from Washington and Lee University in Virginia in 1982, and graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1986. After graduation, he served on active duty with the Army until 1993, and served in the Army Reserve until 2007. He joined a private practice in Iowa in 1994, prior to coming to the James H. Quillen VAMC as a staff optometrist in 1995. Dr. Bohlman has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry since 1997, and received his Diplomate status in Primary Care with the American Academy of Optometry in 2002.
