College of Optometry Student Rob Carlsen
Earns Military Scholarship
MEMPHIS, Tennessee (February 22, 2008) – Rob
Carlsen, a second-year student at Southern College of Optometry (SCO) in
Memphis, has been named one of only five recipients of the U.S. Air Force
Health Professions Service Program (HPSP) Scholarship.
A resident of Payson, Utah, Carlsen
was also commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. A 1999
graduate of Payson High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from
the University of Utah-Salt Lake City in 2006. Carlsen is the son of Ray and
Wilma Carlsen and the grandson of Ramona Asay, all of Payson, the husband of
Tina Moore Carlsen of Hamburg, New Jersey, and the father of a daughter,
Kaelin, and a son, Sean.
Established
in Memphis, Tennessee in 1932, Southern College of Optometry is an independent,
not-for-profit institution of higher education with a mission to educate men
and women in the art and science of optometry.
