Jarrett
Johnson, OD ’90, and Eugene Bane, OD ’65, Named to
Southern
College of Optometry Board of Trustees
MEMPHIS, Tennessee (January 21, 2008) – Jarrett
Johnson, OD ’90, and Eugene Bane, OD ’65, were recently appointed to the Board
of Trustees at Southern College of Optometry (SCO) in Memphis.
A native of New Orleans, Dr. Johnson
served as president of the SCO student body and as student representative to
the Board of Trustees prior to her graduation in 1990. Dr. Johnson was the
first optometrist to graduate from Tulane’s Masters of Public Health Program.
She has been in private practice for 18 years, worked as an optometric
consultant and has been active in public health affairs on the city, state and
federal level.
A 1965 SCO graduate, Dr. Bane
recently retired from private practice in Salem, Virginia. He also is a retired
U.S. Naval Reserve Commander. Dr. Bane’s career includes service on local bank
boards, the board of Emory and Henry College, Salem Rotary Club and the Salem
Historical Society. He is also very active in the Virginia Optometric
Association.
Established
in Memphis, Tennessee in 1932, Southern College of Optometry is an independent,
not-for-profit institution of higher education with a mission to educate men
and women in the art and science of optometry.
