MEMPHIS, Tennessee (October 10, 2007) – The Southern College of Optometry (SCO) Board of Trustees has named Joseph H. Hauser, MBA, as the college’s second corporate officer.

Hauser, who will serve as Secretary-Treasurer in his new role, joins SCO President Richard W. Phillips as president of the college’s not-for-profit corporation. Like Dr. Phillips, he will serve as a contact of record for the state and as an ex-officio (non-voting) member of the Board of Trustees.

Hauser will continue to serve the college as Vice President for Student Services. Prior to his appointment to that position, he was named Dean of Students. His previous service includes several years as Director of Records and Admissions after joining the college as an admissions counselor in 1991.

He earned his MBA and bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis.

Celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2007, Southern College of Optometry was established in Memphis, Tennessee in 1932. SCO is an independent, not-for-profit institution of higher education with a mission to educate men and women in the art and science of optometry.
