Southern College of Optometry Student Announced as

2007 Dr. Seymour Galina Grant Recipient

 

            Memphis, Tennessee (September 17, 2007) – Southern College of Optometry student Benjamin Winters has been selected as the recipient of the 2007 Dr. Seymour Galina Grant, administered by the American Optometric Association’s Foundation Endowment.

            A fourth-year student, Winters will receive a grant for $2,500. He authored a winning essay that was selected from a group of eight finalists from different schools and colleges of optometry.

His essay topic focused on “Qualities I have developed through my financial planning/work experience during and/or before optometry school that I believe will be most useful to me in a professional optometric practice.”

            A resident of Spokane, Washington, Winters earned his undergraduate degree in business management from Brigham Young University.

Celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2007, Southern College of Optometry was established in Memphis, Tennessee in 1932. SCO is an independent, not-for-profit institution of higher education with a mission to educate men and women in the art and science of optometry.
