Please note that applicants must first receive a 10-digit ID number from OptomCAS, the centralized application service for all schools and colleges of optometry.
New classes enter in August each year, and applications are accepted beginning July 1, one year prior to enrollment. Applications are reviewed in the order received; therefore, it is recommended that you file your application as early as possible, but not later than March 1 of the year you wish to enter. You need not complete all prerequisite courses prior to your application as long as you will complete them prior to entrance.
As noted above, the SCO supplemental application is submitted in addition to the application to OptomCAS, which can be accessed here. OptomCAS, who also begins accepting applications on July 1, will issue you a 10-digit OptomCAS ID number, which is required for the SCO supplemental application. The SCO supplemental application, and your OAT scores must all be on file before we can consider you for an interview. Likewise, your file must have been verified by OptomCAS before you can be sent an interview invitation. OAT scores must be submitted directly to SCO from the OAT office, not OptomCAS.
All letters of reference and official college transcripts from each college you attended must be submitted directly to OptomCAS-- not to our Admissions Office. Of the two letters required for admission to SCO, at least one must be from a non-relative O.D. with whom you have worked or shadowed and one must be from a pre-health advisor or science professor (biology, physics or chemistry).
A $50 non-refundable application fee must accompany the supplemental application and must be submitted by credit card at the completion of this application.
