Tuition and Fee Information
Southern College of
Optometry accepts applications from all states and foreign countries. Limited
positions are available for applicants from the following regional states participating in the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) contract program or some other type of state supported tuition assistance program:

To be
eligible for one of the regional positions, the applicant must be a bona fide resident of that state and be so certified by the appropriate state authority. Residency certification instructions are provided
after the application for admission is received. It should be noted that residency certification does not guarantee a regional position, as these positions are limited. Once the applicant has been admitted to the College, the state of residence may not be changed for regional consideration.

Other than the fees listed above, the remaining expenses
a student will encounter are housing and living costs.
SCO does not have on-campus housing, but the school is
located in an area with numerous affordable apartment
complexes and single-family homes. According to the
American Chamber of Commerce Research Association,
Memphis has one of the lowest cost of living indexes in
the nation among cities with populations of more than 500,000.
