Southern College of Optometry is a private college that awards only one degree, the Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree. SCO participates in the centralized application service known as OptomCAS. OptomCAS begins collecting applications July 15 and SCO’s application deadline is March 1 each year, with the entering class starting the following August.

SCO utilizes a rolling admissions format that encourages applying early in the application cycle. Interviews are required before an offer of acceptance can be made, and interviews are by invitation only. Interview invitations are issued from mid-August through early March, however, the earlier an applicant interviews, the more competitive s/he can be for admissions. Before an applicant can be considered for an interview, s/he must have submitted all application documents.

Admission into SCO is very competitive and only about 250 to 300 applicants will be invited for an interview. Continued communication with the Office of Student Services is encouraged to ensure all documents have been received.
